Led by trombonist and composer Charlie Halloran, The Tropicales blend Afro-Caribbean rhythms, classic Latin jazz, vintage calypso, mambo, cumbia, rumba, and modern New Orleans swing into a sound that feels like a 1950s tropical hotel party crashed into a Frenchmen Street dance floor.
Halloran is a fixture of the New Orleans music scene, known for his work across traditional jazz, festival stages, and countless collaborations. With The Tropicales, he brings that deep musicality into something joyful, rhythmic, and wildly fun — rich horn lines, infectious percussion, soulful improvisation, and songs that refuse to sit still.
